Score breakdown

How Other Mommy (2026) gets its overall score of6.0, and every answer behind it.

1. Each kind of scare

Each kind of scare starts from Scare Scale's own starting score, which counts as 2 people at first and less with each person who scores it, until 10 people have and it no longer counts.

Kind of scareStarting scorePeopleTheir scoreWorkingScore
Gore3 (counts as 1.8)15.0(3 × 1.8 + 5.0 × 1) ÷ 2.83.7
Creepy6 (counts as 1.8)15.0(6 × 1.8 + 5.0 × 1) ÷ 2.85.6
Jumpscares5 (counts as 1.8)14.0(5 × 1.8 + 4.0 × 1) ÷ 2.84.6
Suspense5 (counts as 1.8)13.0(5 × 1.8 + 3.0 × 1) ÷ 2.84.3
Psychological5 (counts as 1.8)15.0(5 × 1.8 + 5.0 × 1) ÷ 2.85.0

2. How people's score is worked out

Everyone's answers are pooled. It starts from the average "how much" answer (None 0, A little 4, A lot 7, or the score of a rating made before the scare questions). Each yes/no question then adds or takes off a point times the share of people who gave the answer that counts, scaled by the share of people who felt it at all. People only get some of the questions, so together they can take a film all the way to 10. Kept between 0 and 10.

Gore: 5.0

  • Average "how much" from 1 person: 5.00

Creepy: 5.0

  • Average "how much" from 1 person: 5.00

Jumpscares: 4.0

  • Average "how much" from 1 person: 4.00

Suspense: 3.0

  • Average "how much" from 1 person: 3.00

Psychological: 5.0

  • Average "how much" from 1 person: 5.00

3. The overall score

  1. Each kind of scare is weighted: gore loses a point, and creepy and jumpscares gain one.
    • Gore 3.7 − 1 = 2.7
    • Creepy 5.6 + 1 = 6.6
    • Jumpscares 4.6 + 1 = 5.6
    • Suspense 4.3, unchanged
    • Psychological 5.0, unchanged
  2. The average of the 3 highest (creepy, jumpscares, psychological): (6.6 + 5.6 + 5.0) ÷ 3 = 5.7.
  3. The average film scores 5.4, and the gap from it counts 2 times, so scores use the whole scale: 5.4 + (5.7 − 5.4) × 2 = 6.0.

4. Everyone's answers

1 person, newest first. A person's own score in a kind of scare is their "how much" answer plus or minus 1 for each answer that counts, kept between 0 and 10. Their own overall score isn't spread out like the film's.
